We’ve been eating lots of salsa on paleo – our favorite brand is Herdez because its only ingredients are tomatoes, onions, and spices and you can buy it everywhere!

Due to recent health issues Iam having, I am trying to stay on a more anti-inflammatory track with my eating and tomatoes are said by some experts to cause inflammation – but boy, do I love them! Xaver started experimenting with making homemade salsa alternatives for us to eat on more than just our morning eggs. We’ve also started eating more fish and tomato sauces and fish just don’t float our boat.
This salsa is great with chips (these Good Health Avocado Oil Potato Chips W/ Sea Salt 24- 1.25 oz Bags also are yummy with this salsa) but also great with fish or chicken! Make it in a jiffy when guests are coming over and they’ll never know they are eating paleo. Also, we made this at a recent barbecue and the kids could not keep their hands off of it – they ate an entire batch by themselves. Yes, the 2 year old, 4 year old, 7 year old, and 11 year old ate ALL of the Paleo Pineapple Salsa!!!
Here’s a handy dandy recipe card that you can print off or save to use later 🙂 We hope you do!
- 1/2 Fresh Pineapple, Diced
- 1 Bunch of Cilantro, Chopped
- 1/2 Red Onion, Diced
- Juice from 1/2 Lime
- 2 Jalapenos, Diced
- Dash of Ground Cumin
- Salt & Pepper to Taste
- After dicing all ingredients, mix together thoroughly. Chill for 30 minutes before serving.
- Use Serrano Chiles for a spicier salsa.
If you’d like to try something fruity with a spicy kick, this paleo pineapple salsa is just the ticket. Add mango or other fruits if you like. This salsa is also a great alternative to tomato based salsas if you have acid reflux or suffer from heartburn from acidic foods.
